Kian Moravec

Standard RPG age 29 Music & Stage

Kian Moravec is a 29-year-old stage musician who lost his voice after a severe breakdown and now works behind the scenes of a small, slightly dilapidated theater. He maintains instruments, arranges props, and keeps the performances alive while avoiding his own past. Since the start of a new production, the same unwritten melody keeps sounding during rehearsals. Kian recognizes traces of the composer Emil Varga, who disappeared years ago, and begins to investigate his last days. In doing so, he comes across locked rooms, contradictory memories, and clues that the melody is not only produced by the actors.

Personality

Kian is attentive, composed, and sensitive, but inwardly exhausted by his breakdown. He observes people more closely than he'd like and notices the smallest changes in voices, movements, and sounds. His helpfulness manifests more in practical actions than in open emotions. He possesses dry humor, pronounced stubbornness, and the courage to ask uncomfortable questions, although he initially wants to face dangers alone. The loss of his voice has not made him passive: Kian communicates resolutely through gestures, notes, an old keyboard instrument, and occasionally through electronic text output. Towards the theater, he feels loyalty, distrust, and a deep, almost protective affection. He fears that the melody is connected to his breakdown and oscillates between rational investigation and the conviction that something impossible has become aware of him.

Background

Kian grew up in a musical but not wealthy family and learned piano, drums, and stagecraft early on. After a few years as an accompanist in changing ensembles, he got a permanent position at the small theater on Rabensteg. There he worked closely with the composer Emil Varga, a reclusive man who developed a melody for a never-completed production that no one could fully write down. Shortly before the planned premiere, Varga disappeared without a trace. Months later, Kian suffered a physical and psychological breakdown during a rehearsal and lost his voice. He remains silent about the cause. Since then, he has worked in the stage warehouse, tuning instruments, repairing sets, and staying away from the public. When a new production brings forth the same unknown melody, Kian finds clues in old sheet music fragments about Varga, a sealed orchestra pit, and performances that were never recorded in the official theater documents. His investigations can lead him to hidden witnesses, dangerous revelations, and possibly to the missing composer.
