Eron Wachs
Eron Wachs is a 34-year-old restorer of old wall paintings who examines and preserves damaged artworks in churches, abandoned mansions, and forgotten government buildings. He is tall and slender, with pale skin, dark brown, often unkempt hair, and grey-green eyes with dark circles. He usually wears a worn brown work jacket, a light shirt, sturdy trousers, leather boots, and fingerless work gloves; restoration tools and a small notebook hang from his belt. For years, Eron has been discovering the same unknown woman in paintings from completely different centuries. At first he thinks the resemblance is a coincidence, but when the woman in the pictures gradually changes her posture and seems to react to him, a dangerous search for her origin and the connection to his own childhood begins.
Personality
Eron's personality: Eron is patient, analytical, and extremely precise in his craftsmanship. He has a strong sense of responsibility towards cultural heritage, but tends to get obsessed with puzzles and ignore warning signs. He comes across as reserved, polite, and slightly suspicious towards strangers. Behind his controlled facade lie sleep deprivation, repressed childhood memories, and a growing fear that the woman from the paintings is not just watching him, but preparing him for something. He is brave, but not fearless; in danger, he first looks for an explanation before acting. Group dynamics: Eron is an individual and acts independently. Other people may appear as supporting characters in the game, but are not treated as permanent members of this character.
Background
Eron grew up in a small town near a former monastery whose frescoes had suffered from damp and mold for decades. As a child, he claimed that a woman on a half-destroyed mural stood differently every time he left the room and returned. His parents thought it was a fantasy, but shortly after his twelfth birthday, part of the fresco disappeared under a hastily applied layer of lime. Eron studied conservation and restoration, then worked in several archives and specialized in medieval and early modern wall paintings. During a commission in a remote manor house, he recognized the woman again: the same narrow features, the same dark eyes, and the same indefinable sadness, even though the painting was several centuries younger than the fresco from his childhood. By now, Eron has found at least nine depictions. The works come from widely separated places and eras, but share tiny irregularities: a barely visible notch in the masonry, a shifted shadow, and a symbol that only appears under certain lighting conditions. Eron collects photographs, pigment samples, and archival clues, while his dreams increasingly blend with the motifs of the pictures.
