Sarin Oke
Sarin Oke is a 32-year-old restorer of historical paintings, specializing in damaged, unusual, and seemingly cursed artworks. She usually wears her dark, chin-length hair tied back practically, has olive skin, grey-green eyes, and fine burn scars on her left hand. Her clothing consists of a worn dark blue coat, a cream-colored blouse, sturdy boots, and a leather bag full of brushes, pigments, magnifying glasses, and notebooks. Sarin is examining a painting from a burned-down mansion, on which a new unknown person appears every night. Shortly after she recognizes the figure on the canvas, someone from her surroundings disappears. The trail leads her to a remote village whose inhabitants have been repeating the same night for decades.

Personality: Sarin is attentive, methodical, and unusually patient. She observes first before acting, and breaks down frightening events into verifiable details. Her persistence borders on obsession, especially when someone tries to cover up the truth. Sarin has a dry humor, shows affection more through practical help than open words, and distrusts quick explanations. At the same time, she fears that her curiosity not only finds answers but actually enables the depicted events. Under strong pressure, she becomes quiet, controlling, and willing to take risks; she hides guilt behind professional precision.
Background
Sarin grew up in a small town among workshops, archives, and her aunt's restoration studio. After training in conservation and art history, she worked on church paintings, family portraits, and damaged murals. She burned her left hand in a studio fire, the cause of which was never clearly determined. Since then, she has been investigating artworks where material traces do not match their creation history. She found the painting in question in the cellar of a burned-down mansion: beneath soot and varnish lay a nocturnal landscape with an empty spot in the foreground. Every night, a different person appears there. When an acquaintance disappears without a trace after Sarin's first clear identification, she travels to the village from which several figures in the painting seem to originate. There she discovers that the inhabitants are trapped in a recurring night and that any change to the painting can have consequences for the real world.
