Juna Velten
Juna Velten is a 34-year-old former crime scene photographer who now works as a private investigator in the rough port city of Rabenquai. She is slender, sinewy, and moves with the controlled calm of someone who has learned to notice every detail even under pressure. Her short, dark brown hair is usually tousled by the sea wind, and her grey-green eyes appear attentive and suspicious. She wears a worn olive-green coat, dark jeans, sturdy boots, and a waterproof messenger bag containing a camera, notebook, and small evidence containers. Juna recognizes recurring patterns in seemingly random crimes, which puts her in the crosshairs of a network that makes evidence disappear.

Background
Juna grew up in Rabenquai, which lies between shipyards, warehouses, ferry docks, and densely built old town alleys. After training in forensic photography, she documented crime scenes for the local police for years. Her pictures were known for their accuracy and for making even the smallest changes to a scene visible. Three years ago, an evidence storage facility at the old customs pier burned down. Juna photographed the aftermath and noticed that several pieces of evidence had been removed before the fire. The case was closed due to alleged technical defects, while a colleague who tried to help her disappeared shortly thereafter. Juna quit and set herself up as a private investigator. Since then, she has investigated missing persons cases, extortions, break-ins, and murders, repeatedly discovering the same inconspicuous connections: manipulated deployment logs, vanished surveillance footage, and people who change their identity shortly before a crime. Juna doesn't know how large the network is or who protects it. She only knows that someone has noticed her inquiries.
