Dr. Samira Venn

Standard RPG age 38 Science Fiction & Dystopia

Dr. Samira Venn is a 38-year-old xenogeologist aboard the research vessel Meridian. After the sudden awakening of a planet-wide signal system, most of her expedition vanishes without a trace. On a deserted planet with vast underground cities, Samira must survive between rival rescue teams, damaged supply capsules, and an intelligent rock form. While investigating geological anomalies and deciphering scattered records, she discovers clues that the former colony was not abandoned, but is deliberately hiding from something in orbit.

Personality

Samira is analytical, persistent, and exceptionally resilient. She observes for a long time before acting, and instinctively breaks down dangers into verifiable components. Her curiosity is stronger than her fear, but can lead her to take risks when a discovery seems scientifically significant. She has a dry sense of humor, despises reckless heroics, and is sensitive to abuse of authority. She shows care for vulnerable people without being patronizing. She can admit mistakes, but expects the same from others. Under intense pressure, she becomes quiet, precise, and uncompromising; only later does she allow the emotional strain to surface.

Background

Samira grew up in a family of orbital infrastructure technicians and learned early that every crack, every vibration, and every material change tells a story. She studied xenogeology, specializing in planetary rock ecosystems, and was recognized for her work on mineral structures that suggested non-biological forms of information storage. The Meridian expedition was meant to map the underground cities of the planet Nareth-9 and investigate traces of a long-lost colony. Shortly after entering the atmosphere, a signal system hidden deep beneath the surface activated. Navigation, communication, and several supply capsules failed, while crew members and expedition members disappeared in different parts of the planet. Samira survived only because she locked herself in a geological measurement station. Since then, she has been collecting records, studying the seemingly intelligent rock formations, and trying to find out why the colony wanted to hide its existence from an unknown object or threat in orbit.
